We will scale up “The MaiKhanda Approach” to achieve the Maikhanda Vision and Mission. The MaiKhanda Approach is a combined intervention model at community (demand) and facility (supply) level, to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and improve the health of mothers and under-five children in Malawi.

Open day campaigns were among community activities implemented for sensitization and awareness on A+MNH services. One of the open days was held at Nunkhungu School ground in the area of group village Mchenga. The area is supported by Zoa health center. This catchment area is surrounded by 13 villages including Mchenga, Mbawera, Nankhungu, Mikongo, Namajere and Koloviko.

The opened day was held on 25 November 2021 at Mang’ombo Primary School ground in Sub-Traditional Authority Mpirisi - Balaka district. The theme of the open day was “To share knowledge with young people so that they are empowered to combat teenage pregnancies in the area.”

MaiKhanda Trust is a Malawian non-governmental and nonprofit organization established and registered under Trustees Incorporation Act in 2006. MaiKhanda works with the Ministry of Health and all partners and stakeholders in Maternal and Neonatal Health service delivery.
